NORWALK, Conn. – Raffaele Di Meglio, a former Norwalk resident, died Oct. 1 at St. Raphael Hospital in New Haven, Conn. He was 79.
Born June 22, 1933, in Fontana D'Ischia, Italy, he was a son of Filippo Di Meglio and Felicissima Carino. He immigrated to the U.S. with his family in 1973 and lived in Norwalk for 29 years before moving to Orange, Conn., to be closer to his daughters and grandchildren.
Di Meglio was married to Angela Di Meglio. He worked as a stone mason for many years before retiring in 1990 for health reasons. He then spent most of his free time tending to his garden or with his grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Felicia (Ron) Di Meglio-Schmitt and Maria Cristina (Fernando) Moran: a sister, Angela DiMeglio; three grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.
He was predeceased by his wife, and a brother, Nicola DiMeglio.
Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Collins Funeral Home in Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, at St. Matthew Church in Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Norwalk.
