Phyllis C. Murphy, 96, Longtime Norwalk Resident

ROCKY HILL, Conn. - Phyllis C. Murphy  of Rocky Hill, and a longtime Norwalk resident, died Thursday, Oct. 17. She was 96.

Murphy was born Aug. 18, 1917, in Chicago, daughter of Felix and Antonina Skawinski. She lived in Norwalk for most of her life. She was employed as a nurse’s aide at Norwalk Hospital until she turned 75.

Murphy is survived by her children, James (Sandra) Murphy of Norwalk, Phyllis (Francis) Price of Glastonbury, Eileen (John) Gardner of Andover, Mass., Peter (Linda) Murphy, Marie (J. Michael) Sutton, all of Norwalk; 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and husband, Peter J. Murphy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21 at St. Aloysius Church, 40 Maple St., New Canaan, with Msgr. William Scheyd celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Norwalk.
