Philomena Gribosky, 92, Of Norwalk

Philomena Gribosky

NORWALK, Conn. – Philomena Gribosky of Norwalk died Sept. 30 at her. She was 92. 

Born May 14, 1920, in Cervinara, Avellino, Italy, she was the daughter of Pasquale and Maria Letizia Borreca Buccieri. She immigrated with her family to the United States in 1921 and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1938. 

Gribosky met her future husband, Stephen, and they married on her birthday in 1949. She worked with her husband in his upholstery shop for many years. She was a longtime member of St. Mary Church in Norwalk and a devoted fan of the University of Connecticut women's basketball team. 

She is survived by two sons, Stephen J. (Barbara) Gribosky Jr., of Sandy Hook, Conn., and Philip S. Gribosky, of Norwalk; a brother, Domenick Buccieri; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Capuano and Gloria Buccieri; a brother-in-law, John Gribosky; and many nieces and nephews. Gribosky was predeceased by her husband, Stephen J. Gribosky; and three brothers, Frank, Joseph and Anthony Buccieri. 

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Magner Funeral Home in Norwalk. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Church in Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. 

Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
