Patti Birchard, 75, Norwalk Medical Receptionist

NORWALK, Conn. – Patti Jane Murphy Birchard of Norwalk died Feb. 11 at her home. She was 75.

Born in Toledo, Ohio, she was a daughter of Peter J. and Eleanor N. Murphy. As a teenager, she moved with her family to Connecticut. Birchard graduated from Norwalk High School and attended the University of Connecticut.

She was married for 55 years to Douglas James Birchard. They raised their family on Bell Island in the Rowayton section of Norwalk.

Birchard worked various jobs as a medical receptionist in Norwalk. She also worked at Top Drawer Dress Shop, owned by her mother.

She was predeceased by her husband.

Birchard is survived by five children, Gary L. Birchard, Robert J. (Donna) Birchard, Lori A. Ungemack, Wendy J. (Thomas) Gaipa and Suellan P. Birchard; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by a sister, Susan Cundari, of Norwalk. She was predeceased by a sister, Jodelle O’Brien.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
