NORWALK, Conn. -- Patricia A. (Deegan) Callahan, formerly of Norwalk, died on Sunday, Feb. 8. She was 78.
The daughter of the late William S. Deegan and Veronica F. (Tansey) Deegan, Patricia was born July 14, 1936 and graduated in 1954 from Saint Barnabas Girls High School in the Bronx, N.Y. She later attended drama school and had a brief career as a fashion model in New York City. She married her husband, Gene, in 1958.
Patricia worked at several local businesses, among them Stew Leonard’s, MBI, Lea Manor, and MECA software. She selflessly ran the Callahan household of eight, lovingly supporting her husband's career in the law profession, as well as guiding her children to become productive and happy adults with families of their own. She also loved summers at Ascension Beach.
Patricia was a longtime member of St. Thomas the Apostle parish, where she involved herself and her children in church activities. She also enjoyed her weekly bridge game with friends and was an avid reader of romance, thrillers and historical novels. She gave of her time generously, attending countless extracurricular school activities in support of her children and grandchildren. She also loved her UConn women’s basketball team.
Patricia is survived by her husband, children, their spouses and her 12 grandchildren: Gene, his wife, Elen, and their children, Eamon, Emma, and Adam; Maura and her husband, Pete Johnson; Sean, his wife, Yolanda, and their children, Dalton, Ethan, and Aila; Tory and her children, Alec and Deegan; Tracy, her husband Eric, and their children, Edward and Christopher; and Kelly, her husband Steven, and their children, Ryan and Maya.
Calling hours will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12 at the Magner Funeral Home , 12 Mott Ave in Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 13 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church at 203 East Ave in Norwalk.
