Owetta Faulkner, 81, Longtime Norwalk Resident

NORWALK, Conn. -- Owetta “Sweetie” Faulkner of Norwalk died Thursday, Oct. 29. 

She was born May 8, 1934, in Meldrim, Ga., to the late Ozzie and Irene Mikel. She was the fourth of seven children. She attended public schools in Savannah, Ga. 

She moved to Norwalk in the early 1950s. It was here she met and married the late Charles Faulkner. 

She became a member of the Calvary Baptist Church July 6, 2003, and served, until her health failed, as a member of the senior choir, (which is currently known as the sanctuary choir), the CLW Missionary Society and a faithful to the adult class of the Sunday School. 

She is survived by her brother, Edward Mikel (Alberta) of Norwalk; a sister, Eddie Mae Carroll of Highland, Calif.; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends. 

Services will be Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church, 21 Concord St., Norwalk. The viewing will be at 6 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mountain Grove Cemetery, Easton. 

The Baker Funeral Services, 84 S. Main St., Norwalk, is handling the arrangements.
