Michael Tucciarone, 74, Of Norwalk, Retired Master Carpenter

NORWALK, Conn. - Michael Tucciarone of Norwalk died Sunday, Feb. 16. He was 74.

Tucciarone was born Dec. 24, 1939, the son of Adolfo and Civita Tucciarone from Minturno, Italy. He came to the United States with his family in July 1954. He graduated from the fifth grade in Italy and at age 10 started his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker.

After arriving in the United States, he attended Benjamin Franklin School in Norwalk. At 18, he returned to woodworking as a union carpenter and continued to work as a master carpenter through his retirement. He was a lifelong member of the St. Ann Club and the Knights of Columbus in Norwalk.

Tucciarone is survived by his wife, Margherita; sons, Adolfo (Allison) and Luigi (Doris); daughter, Maria Smerekanicz (Michael); six grandchildren; brothers, Anthony, Vincent and Matthew; sister, Victoria Treglia; and numerous cousins and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Rafaela Spagnuolo.

Calling hours are Sunday, Feb. 23 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk. Members of the St. Ann Club will gather at 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, in St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave., Norwalk.
