NORWALK, Conn. – Michael Joseph Tavella, a resident of Norwalk, died Sunday, Feb. 28. He was 89.
Tavella worked as a custodian for the Norwalk Public Schools for more than 21 years, until his retirement in 1990. Prior to that, he worked at Spires Footwear and Styles Footwear for many years.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Philip Tavella Jr.; Richard Tavella; Jo-Ann Rogers and Richard Toetenil, all of Norwalk; Patricia Maiatico and Russel Sargent, of Trumbull; and Donna Scofield, of Florida.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jean Mary Marinelli; his brother, Philip Tavella Sr.; his sisters, Millicent Esposito and Angelina Sargent.
Calling hours will be held at the Magner Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 9 from 5-8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Church, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 10. Interment will be at St. John Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York.
