NORWALK, Conn. - Michael Dominick Veno of Norwalk died Saturday, March 30. He was 87.
Veno was born in Saugatuck, son of Dominic and Mary E. (Reitano) Veno. A WWII Navy veteran, he served in the Asiatic Fleet in the South Pacific aboard the USS Piedmont. He was present at the Japanese surrender and participated in the occupation of Japan.
Veno worked for over 40 years at Philips Electric Motors. He was a member of the Norwalk Men’s Choir and New Horizons at St. Matthew Church.
Veno is survived by his wife, Louise; children, Betsy LeCates (Gary) of Bethel, Carol Falcone (Richard) of Fairfield, Michael Veno Jr. (Jennifer) of Norwalk; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; aunt, Betty Licari; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents.
Calling hours are Thursday, April 4 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, at St. Philip Church, 1 Fr. Conlon Pl, Norwalk with burial to follow at Assumption Cemetery, Old King’s Hwy. Westport.
