Michael Colohan, 72, Former Norwalk Pilot

NORWALK, Conn. – Michael Colohan, formerly of Norwalk, died July 4 at his home in Kingsport, Tenn., after a brief illness. He was 72.

The son of Edward and Margaret Colohan, he was born in Norwalk in 1940. Colohan graduated from St. Mary School in Norwalk, Fairfield Preparatory School, Norwalk Community College and Purdue University School of Flying.

He worked as an airline pilot for 35 years, flying for several airlines. Colohan also worked as an instructor pilot at Sikorsky Airport in Bridgeport. An avid sports fan, he played basketball and tennis.

A boating enthusiast, Colohan enjoyed attending boat shows. He also was an altar server at St. Thomas Church in East Norwalk.

Colohan is survived by a brother, the Rev. Edward Colohan, of Stamford; three sisters, Della (William) Pratt, of Franklin, Tenn., Mary Cobb, of Arlington, Texas, and Eileen (Alfred) Faulkner, of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in East Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Norwalk. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Collins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
