Maurice Tomlin, 49, Basketball Coach In Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. -- Maurice “Mo” Tomlin of Norwalk died on March 3. He was 42.

Tomlin was the son of Theresa Tomberlin and Alvito LaRay Hodge Sr. and was born Aug. 14, 1972, in Norwalk.

Tomlin was a lifelong resident of Norwalk. He received his formal education in the Norwalk Public Schools and graduated from Brien McMahon High School in 1991. He had worked in Norwalk Public School system for over 15 years. He was a mentor to many and served as the head coach for the Brien McMahon basketball team.

He is survived by his sons Maurice Tomlin Jr. and Jacob Tomlin of Norwalk; his daughter Cynai Tomlin of Norwalk; his mother Theresa Tomberlin of Norwalk; his father Alvito LaRay Hodge Sr. of New Jersey; grandmother Ruby Tomlin of Norwalk; sister Joy Tomberlin of Bridgeport; brothers Alvito LaRay Hodge Jr. of New York and Alton Whittaker of Bridgeport,; niece India Fuller and nephew Robert Fuller Jr., both of Bridgeport; a special friend Jenette Holt; and many more nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday, March 12, in Calvary Temple, 12 Concord St., Norwalk. Friends may greet the family from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
