NORWALK, Conn. – Mary Virginia Spriggs Givens, 77, of Norwalk, died Friday, Aug 7 at Norwalk Hospital.
Born Oct. 31, 1937, in Norwalk, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Aleatha Spriggs. She was a lifelong resident of Norwalk, graduated from Norwalk high School and was a lifelong member of Bethel A.M.E Church. She then went on to own a restaurant with her husband.
She is survived by her children, Kevin Canty and Michele Givens; two sisters of Norwalk; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Tommy Givens Sr.; her son Tommy Givens Jr.; and a brother.
A viewing will be held Thursday, Aug. 13 from 10-11 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m. at Bethel A.M.E Church, 19 Academy St., Norwalk, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery. Professional services entrusted to Baker-Isaac Funeral Services, 985 Stratford Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06607.
