NORWALK, Conn. – Mary P. Venezia, a former Norwalk resident, died Friday, Sept. 21, at University of Connecticut Medical Center in Farmington, Conn. She was 93.
Born Aug. 25, 1919, in New London, she was the daughter of John and Jennie Reale Doyle. She grew up in Norwalk and married Ralph P. Venezia Sr. on Dec. 28, 1940, at St. Mary's Church. Together they raised five children.
Venezia lived in Venice, Fla., and Unionville, Conn., for the last 25 years. Prior to retirement, she worked as a bookkeeper with R & T Plumbing and Heating. She was a longtime member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church and a life member of the South Norwalk Boat Club Auxiliary, where she served as a board member.
She is survived by a son, Ralph P. (Barbara) Venezia Jr., of Waitsfield, Vt.; three daughters, Barbara (Mike) Thompson, of Wells River, Vt., Jacalyn (David) Coyne, of Farmington, and Kathryn Rockholz, of Chalfont, Pa.; a sister, Mildred Griebel, of Tennessee; nine grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Venezia was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Louise Parisi; a grandson, Paul Rockholz; and two brothers, John P. Doyle and Joseph Doyle.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home in Norwalk. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Philip Church in Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.
