NORWALK, Conn. Mary "Sista" Magdalene Stewart, a longtime resident of Norwalk, died Aug. 17. She was 74.
Born Nov. 27, 1937, in Savannah, Ga., Stewart was the daughter of Emma Creech Robinson and the late Samuel Bennett. Educated in Savannah, she married Benjamin "Joe" Stewart in 1953. They moved to Harlem, N.Y., in 1954 before moving to Norwalk in 1956.
Stewart is survived by her husband, Joe; nine children, Daniel (Gwen) Stewart, Sharon Stewart, Sonja (Carl) Oliver, Bryant (Robin) Stewart, Andre Stewart, Emma (Ian) Ramdeen, Andre (Ida) Morgan, Pete (Marcia) Stewart and Gail (Ronnie) Bell; a sister, Earline Halloway; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a son, Jackie Adams; and seven siblings, Shirley Robinson, Jessie Mae Reedy, MaryLee Fredricks, Herman Robinson, Bennie (Freddie) Robinson, Hattie Mae Robinson and Elder Charles "Charlie" Robinson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church in Norwalk. Calling hours are from 9 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk. Baker Funeral Services in Norwalk is handling arrangements.
