NORWALK, Conn. - Mary Jankowski of Norwalk died Friday, Nov. 22. She was 100.
Jankowski was born Dec. 25, 1912, in Westport, to Nelly Rankewicz, and Stella and Stephen Harelik. She was raised in Milford and attended schools in Bridgeport. She moved with her husband in 1933 to Fairfield where she raised their four children. She worked at Carnation Gardens in Westport for over 30 years. After her husband died in 1963 she moved to Milford and later to Norwalk where she lived the past 20 years.
Jankowski is survived by her daughters, Wanda Santorelli (Carmine), Barbara Santorelli (Joseph) all of Norwalk and Ellie Hess (Larry) of Spring Hill, Fla.; nine grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Hipolit Jankowski; son Edward; sister, Lila Teshoney; and brothers, Stanley, Charles and Joseph Harelik.
Calling hours are Friday, Nov. 29 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at St. Matthew Church, Norwalk with interment to follow at St. Michael cemetery, Stratford.
