Mary Hoggson, 90, Lifelong Norwalk Resident

NORWALK, Conn. – Mary A. Hoggson of East Norwalk died Jan. 24 at Norwalk Hospital while under the care of Connecticut Hospice. She was 90.

Born June 17, 1922, in Norwalk, she was the daughter of Martin J. and Lena Paulovich Passeck. A lifelong Norwalk resident, Hoggson graduated from Norwalk High School in 1940.  She worked most of her career in banking and was previously employed by CityTrust.

After retiring from banking, she worked part time in the Pepperidge Farm Thrift Store. In her earlier years, Hoggson loved to do needlepoint and crewel work. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She and her former classmates gathered monthly for lunch. She lived also independently in senior housing, where she made many friends.

Hoggson is survived by two daughters, Rosemary (Charles) Yost and Cheryl Aide, both of Norwalk; a son-in-law, Kevin Boyd, of North Carolina; and six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Boyd; and a sister, Doris Riedell.

A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Norwalk. There are no calling hours. Collins Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
