Mary Doukas Ladewig, 76, Norwalk Resident

NORWALK, Conn. — Norwalk resident Mary Doukas Ladewig died on Saturday, May 7. She was 76. 

A native of Greece, Ladewig came to the U.S. in 1951, graduated from Meriden High School and received a B.S. and a M.S. in Business Education from Central Connecticut State University. 

She moved to Norwalk in 1981 and taught at Katherine Gibbs School. 

When the school closed in 1991, she worked at Norwalk Savings Society until 2001 and then at Norwalk Hospital until her retirement. 

In addition to her husband, David, Ladewig is survived by her step-father, Nicholas Mastorakos of Athens, Greece and her step-daughter Kim and her husband Dane Risley and their children Michael, Lauren, and Kate; and Brian Ladewig. 

She also is survived by her sisters, Claire Doukas, and her children Angelo and George Philippopoulos; Antonia and John Lambros and their children Stephanie Coolidge, and Emmanuel and Sofia Lambros; Fredericke and Goerge Ahimastos and their children Peter and Arlette; sister Kalliope Doukas and her husband Orestis, as well as several beloved cousins. 

Friends may call on Tuesday, May 10 from 4-8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., in Norwalk. 

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 11 at 10 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 238 West Rocks Road, in Norwalk. 

Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, in Norwalk.
