NORWALK, Conn. – Mary Agostino, a former Norwalk resident, died July 24 at her home in Mendon, Vt. She was 82.
Agostino was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Greenock, Scotland to Francis and Anne Bradley Griffin. She was married to the late Anthony Agostino. A longtime Norwalk resident, she also lived in Mashpee, Cape Cod, Mass., for 20 years before moving to Vermont.
She enjoyed knitting, crafts and reading. Agostino also loved to travel, especially with her family. She was very involved with St. Mary Church when she lived in Norwalk and worked at Reynolds Farms Nursery Garden Center for several years.
Agostino is survived by four children, Anthony Agostino Jr., of New York City, Peter (Allyson) Agostino, of Stamford, Anne (Bert Winans) Griffin, of Mendon, and Laura (Daniel) Caraway, of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren; her close friends, Grady Cooley and Jaclyn Lamirande; and several nieces and nephews. She also is survived by two sisters-in-law, Lada and Mary; and a brother-in-law, Natale. Agostino was predeceased by five siblings.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday at St. Mary Church in Norwalk. Magner Funeral Home in Norwalk was in charge of arrangements.
