Marlene Calitri Saviano, 65, Longtime Norwalk Resident

NORWALK, Conn. - Marlene Calitri Saviano, a longtime resident of Norwalk, died Monday, Nov. 3. She was 65.

Saviano was born Aug. 17, 1949, in Norwalk, to John J. and Jean Zoppi Calitri. She graduated from the University of Connecticut and received her Masters Degree from Southern Connecticut State University. She was a special education teacher in the Ridgefield school system for many years. She had also been a headteacher with the autistic program at the former Noroton Heights Middle School.

Saviano is survived by her husband, John J. Saviano; sisters, Sandra Calitri Schutte of Ada, Mich., and Debra Manuel of Shelton; brothers, John Calitri of New Canaan, Tim Calitri, Roy Calitri and David Calitri all of Norwalk; and a godson. She was predeceased by her parents; and nephew, Troy Schutte.

Calling hours are Thursday, Nov. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7 at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
