Marie Tarzia, 79, Formerly of Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. – Marie D. Testa Tarzia, formerly of Norwalk, died June 26 with her family by her side. She was 79. 

Tarzia was born June 30, 1932, in Norwalk to Samuel and Mary Dominick Testa. She enjoyed supporting her grandchildren during their sporting events. Her favorite pastime was competitive card playing with her sisters. 

Married to Michael G. Tarzia Sr., she was a longtime member of the Georgetown Bible Church. She lived most recently in Danbury. 

Tarzia is survived by her husband of 60 years; three sons, Michael (Joan) Tarzia Jr., of Brookfield, Conn., Nicholas (Shelia) Tarzia, of Richmond, Va., and Chris (Sally) Tarzia, also of Richmond; two daughters, Donna Barnas, of Branford, Conn., and Mary Tarzia, of Ridgefield; three sisters, Elsie Imri, Jenny Holt and Patricia Grenier; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Samuel and Michael Testa; and two sisters, Pauline Cusack and Theresa Cutrone. 

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Green Funeral Home in Danbury. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Georgetown Bible Church in Georgetown. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Norwalk. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
