Marie Antoinette Calka Of Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. – Marie Antoinette Calka, daughter of the late Sally and George Vassallo, died Monday, July 27 at the Norwalk Hospital after a long illness.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many, she was a dedicated retired teacher and owner of the Apple Tree Pre-School. She moved to Norwalk at an early age and graduated from Norwalk High School 1963. She loved caring for her grandchildren, enjoyed flea markets and trips to the Amish Country. She was also very artistic and loved to cook.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Calka; her daughters Gerri  Flewellyn (Scott) and Cami Engel (Kevin); four grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a brother.

Her family will receive friends Wednesday, July 29 from 4-8 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 30 at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery.

Donations in her name may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
