Born Dec. 18, 1920, in Pölöske, Zallamegye, Hungary, to Elizabeth Bakos Toth and Theodore Toth, she immigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada, at age 7. She also lived in Branford and Toronto, Ontario, where she completed high school and secretarial training. She met her musician husband, Alex, on a trip to the U.S. and was married for more than 67 years.
She was an avid bridge player, gardener, baker and reader as well as an active member of the Women's Guild of the Hungarian Reformed Church in South Norwalk before moving to Florida. She created many beautiful afghans, which she donated to Crystal Theatre for fundraiser raffles. She loved to travel the world with her husband — especially when it involved seeing her two daughters, Cheryl and Alexandrea Kemeny of Norwalk, performing as the "Kemeny Sisters."
Before retiring, she worked for years as a secretary and bookkeeper for area businesses, including Norwalk Tire, Katz Real Estate, Persons' Reading School, Cherry Lawn School and Custom Swab.
She is survived by her husband, Alex; two daughters Cheryl and Alexandrea; a granddaughter, a son-in-law, Mariner Pezza of Norwalk; a cousin in Toronto; and many relatives in Canada as well as Hungary.
Friends may call Wednesday, April 29, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk, where a memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. A private burial will take place Thursday, April 30, at 11 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk.
