Magalie Dormevil, 48, Longtime Norwalk Resident

NORWALK, Conn. -- Magalie Dormevil, 48, died Sunday, Aug. 23, in Orlando, Fla., after an 11-year battle with an adenoid cystic carcinoma in the head.

After settling in Norwalk in 1991, Dormevil began working as a certified nursing aide for various families across Greenwich, Norwalk and Westport. On a daily basis, she would visit the homes of the elderly.

She also had a passion for traveling, visiting such places as Asia, Europe and the Caribbean. She not only enjoyed these travels for herself, but she also wanted to share these experiences with her family as often as she could.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Guy Dormevil; son, Guyvensky Dormevil; daughter, Guylendy Dormevil; mother Gladys Pierre Adolphe; brother, Marcel Adolphe; two sisters, Magdalene and Marline Adolphe; godmother, Christiane Joseph; and several nephews, nieces, uncles, cousins and in-laws.

Her family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 28 from 5-9 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 85 S. Main St., Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery.
