Louis Del Vecchio, 89, Of Norwalk, Retired Equipment Repair Coordinator

NORWALK, Conn. - Louis Del Vecchio of Norwalk died Wednesday April 24. He was 89.

Del Vecchio was born March 3, 1924, in Stamford to Ralph and Madeline Compolattaro Del Vecchio. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II,  stationed in Guam. 

Del Vecchio worked for Bunker Ramo of Shelton as a truck driver and equipment repair coordinator for over 40 years before retiring in 1986.

Del Vecchio is survived by his sons, Robert L. Del Vecchio (Jean) of Norwalk, Gary Del Vecchio (Cindy) of Surprise, Ariz., and Richard L. Del Vecchio (Jennifer Larsen) of Stratford; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Louise Sierpina of Stamford; sisters-in-law; Marie Jara of New Canaan and Irene Curry of Stamford; cousins; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Patricia; and two brothers; Sal Del Vecchio and Frank “Snooky” Del Vecchio.

Calling hours are Sunday, April 28 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. A funeral procession will be leaving at 8:40 a.m. Monday, April 29 from the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Oaklawn Ave., Stamford.
