NORWALK, Conn. – Lillian R. Walling of Norwalk died June 30 at Norwalk Hospital. She was 86.
Walling was born Dec. 4, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to John and Agnes Mary Flannery Drivick. A Norwalk resident since 1947, she was married to the late Benjamin F. Walling.
She received an associate's degree from C.W. Post in her late 50s and was a longtime employee of Connecticut Light & Power. Walling started off working nights and weekends as a switchboard operator before becoming a records analyst and supervisor in the engineering department. She retired in 1992.
Walling was a member of St. Philip Church in Norwalk. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting afghans and clothing for her grandchildren and keeping informed about politics.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy (Ken Baker) Walling, of Boise, Idaho; a son, Richard (Donna) Walling, of Stratford; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew. Walling was predeceased by a daughter, Cynthia Walling; and a grandson, Christopher.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Magner Funeral Home in Norwalk. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Philip Church in Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Philip Church.
