NORWALK, Conn. Lillian Epstein, a former Norwalk resident, died June 28 at Edith Stein Assisted Living Residence in Somerset, N.J. She was 94.
Born Jan. 15, 1918, in Sharon, Conn., she was the daughter of Harry and Anna Marcus. Epstein and her late husband, Jerome "Jerry" Epstein, were co-owners of Sanitary Cleaners for more than 50 years.
A longtime member of Congregation Beth El and Hadassah, she was a former president of Sisterhood Beth El. Epstein was also a volunteer for the Red Cross and past president of the Edith Stein Residents' Association. She enjoyed boating on the Long Island Sound and traveling to Mazatlan, Mexico.
Epstein is survived by two sons, Richard (Gail) Epstein, of Norwalk, and Neil (Faith) Epstein, of Trumbull; a daughter, Roberta (Jerrold) Goldstein, of Somerset; a brother, Jack Marcus, of Danbury; a son-in-law, Frederic Harrison, of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Leah Epstein Harrison.
Services will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday at Collins Funeral Home in Norwalk, with Rabbi Joseph Ron Fish of Congregation Beth El officiating. Burial will follow at Independent Hebrew Society Temple Shalom Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at the home of Richard and Gail Epstein.
