Lena Oman, 98, Norwalk Hat Manufacturer

NORWALK, Conn. – Lena S. Oman of Norwalk died June 26 at Aurora Senior Living of Norwalk. She was 98. 

Oman was the owner of General Headwear, a hat manufacturer in South Norwalk. 

Born Dec. 24, 1913, in Norwalk, she was the daughter of Antoinette and Michael Santella. She was married to the late Herman J. Oman Sr. A longtime member of St. Ann's Club, Oman served as president of the Women's Bocce Association and as a member the Women's Auxiliary Club. She was also a member of the Monsignor Finn Council of the Columbiettes. 

She was predeceased by a son, Herman J. Oman Jr.; four brothers, Angelo, Andrew, Dominic and Albert Santella; and two sisters, Mary Passarelli and Fannie Santella. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Oman; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Norwalk. Collins Funeral Home in Norwalk is in charge of arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann's Club, 16 Hendricks Ave., Norwalk CT 06851.
