Juan C. Montanez, 66, Of Norwalk, Retired From Norwalk Board Of Education

NORWALK, Conn. - Juan C. Montanez, a longtime resident of Norwalk, died July 12. He was 66.

Montanez was born Oct. 8, 1945, to Mercedes and Ponfidia Garcia Montanez in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. He recently retired from the Norwalk Board of Education.

Montanez is survived by his longtime companion, Nilza Vazquez; daughters, Maricela and Nellie Montanez of Norwalk; son, Juan (Pito) Montanez, Jr.; stepsons, Jose and Alex Vazquez all of Norwalk; seven grandchildren; brother, Gregorio Montanez of Puerto Rico; and sisters, Cruz Montanez of Norwalk, and Margarita Montanez of Puerto Rico. He was predeceased by his parents.

A funeral procession will leave Monday, July 15 at 10:30 a.m. the Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory , 5 East Wall St., Norwalk and proceed for interment at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Richards Ave., Norwalk where a prayer service will be held.
