Joseph Marchese, Of Norwalk, Longtime Ibew Local 208 Member

NORWALK, CONN -- Joseph Marchese, of Norwalk, died Saturday, April 18, in his home surrounded by his wife and family.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on March 25, 1930, he moved to Norwalk with his family as a young child and made it his home ever since. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he joined the IBEW Local 208 as an apprentice in 1953. After many years of service, he was elected as the local business manager, a position he had for 18 years.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Vera; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph (Debora) Marchese Jr., Michael (Katie) Marchese and James (Leslie) Marchese; his mother, Agnes Bonsdale Marchese; three sisters Mildred Holquist, Marie Veno and Evelyn Stabell; and eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a..m. Saturday in St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital, 34 Maple St., Norwalk, CT 06850.
