Johnny Lee 'Shank' Moorer, 66, Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk resident Johnny Lee "Shank" Moorer died on Saturday, Feb. 20. He was 66.

Moorer was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He attended Elloree Training School and joined Felderville Church in South Carolina. He was a taxi driver for Livery Transportation and a truck driver at Norwalk Electric.

Moorer is survived by his daughter, Tara McCloud of Bridgeport; sisters Neomia Copeland and Dorothy Moorer, both of Norwalk, and Hazel Parra of Bridgeport; brother Melvin Murray of Orangeburg; aunt Ruby Mae Moorer of Elloree, South Carolilna; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces Tammy Moorer, Crystal Jefferson, Zaria Dash and Myla Williams; nephews Michael Willliams and Derrick Copeland; and great-nephews Marcel and Takile Holmes, and Rodrick and Rashard Haynes.

He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond Cecil and Lucille Murray; brothers Tommy and Leroy Murray; sister Minnie Murray; and nephew Steven Williams.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. at Baker-Isaac Funeral Chapel, 985 Stratford Ave., in Bridgeport. A viewing will be held prior to the service, from 10 a.m. until the service. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery.
