John Festa, Sr., Former Norwalk Resident, World War II Vet, 88

NORWALK, Conn. -- John Festa, a former Norwalk resident and World War II veteran, died recently. He was 88.

Festa was born Oct. 31, 1926 in Saugatuck, Conn. He served in Japan from 1945-1946. Shortly after returning stateside he met Amelia Schettino, and they were married on April 30, 1949.

Festa spent his career as an electrician with Pepperidge Farm, enjoyed sports, family gatherings, and a strong cup of coffee with his morning paper. 

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Sal Festa and wife Linda of Seymour, Conn., John Festa, Jr. and wife Carolyn of McKinney, Texas; five grandchildren Sarah Festa, Ashley Festa, Rebecca Festa, John Paul Festa and Catherine Festa and a brother Ralph Festa and his wife Claire.

Visitation is at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Wednesday from 4 - 8 pm. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 669 West Ave., Norwalk with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.
