John D. Fitzgerald, 73, Of Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. - John D. “Jack” Fitzgerald of Norwalk died Friday, Nov. 1. He was 73.

Fitzgerald was born Nov. 24, 1939, in Norwalk, son of John D. Fitzgerald Sr. and Veronica D. Fitzgerald.

He was a former senior systems analyst with Mantech in Washington, D.C., a subcontractor for the U.S. Navy, and had previously worked at AMF in York, Pa.

He graduated from Fairfield Prep in 1957 and from Fairfield University in 1961. He owned a bookstore on Wall Street in Norwalk in 1972 to 1973. In retirement, he moved back to Norwalk in 2002. He was a member of the Laurel AC, the Norwalk Boat Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Fitzgerald is survived by his sisters, Sister Dolores Fitzgerald, a sister of St. Joseph, and Mary K. Spielman; brothers Eugene W. Fitzgerald and Kevin J. Fitzgerald; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother Brian A. Fitzgerald.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery.
