Isaac E. Ballard, 92, Of Norwalk, World War II Veteran

NORWALK, Conn. – Isaac E. Ballard, 92, of Norwalk, died Tuesday, March 31.

He was born May 25, 1922, in Norwalk, to the late Isaac Ballard and Ann Anderson Ballard.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, and awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 2012.

Ballard worked with Libner Grain Co. until he retired.

Survivors include one daughter, Bernice Ballard; two sons, James Ballard and Darrell Ballard; one brother, Lawrence (Dorothy) Ballard; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

His wife, Bernice Mason Ballard; one daughter, Pauline Ballard; and two sons, Dewey Ballard and Marc “Punkin” Ballard, preceded him in death.

Calling hours will be from 9:30-10 a.m. Saturday at Bethel AME Church, 19 Academy St., Norwalk.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethel AME Church.

Downer Funeral Home, Norwalk, is handling the arrangements.
