NORWALK, Conn. -- Helena Tomasiewicz, 89, died Monday, Sept. 7.
Tomasiewicz was born in Poland on Nov. 18, 1925, to Jan and Zofia (Wojtowicz) Mirowski.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Stanley Jarzabek, and her second husband, Henry Tomasiewicz.
She worked as a nurse in Africa before coming to America.
When she came to the U.S., she worked at Electrolux and Pitney Bowes.
Tomasiewicz is survived by a son, Henry, and his wife Kerrie; daughters Marie Wern and her husband Michael, Isabelle Regan and her husband, Gary, and Barbara Raschke and her husband, David; sister-in-laws Helen Wapiennik and Janina Mirowski, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, at 10 a.m. in St. Philip Church, 1 Father Conlon Place.
A burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tomasiewicz’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, Conn. Chapter, 607 Main Ave., or to another Alzheimer’s group .
