Helen Marie Mitaly, 94, Lifelong Norwalk Resident

NORWALK, Conn. - Helen Marie Mitaly, lifelong resident of Norwalk died Wednesday, April 17. She was 94.

Mitaly was born Nov. 26, 1918, in Norwalk daughter of Robert and Ethel Toby Hennessy and had lived in Norwalk all of her life. She attended Norwalk schools and graduated from Katharine Gibbs School on Park Ave. in New York City. She worked with her husband in their family business, John Mitaly Electric and she was a volunteer in many charitable organizations, especially Family and Childrens Services.

Mitaly is survived by sons, John (Kathy) of Petersburg, N.Y., Scott (Barbara) of Milford; daughter, Marianne Pote-Hass of Bloomingburg, N.Y.; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marie Hennessy and Julie Barnum; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, John; siblings, Dorothy Mocciola and Robert Hennessy, Jr.; grandson, Mathew Mitaly; and son-in-law, Hy Hass.

Calling hours will be Sunday, April 21 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 22, at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery.
