Helen Fabrizio Roach, 89, Of Norwalk, Owned Norwalk Safe Driving School

NORWALK, Conn. - Helen Fabrizio Roach of Norwalk died Friday, June 7. She was 89.

Roach was born July 12, 1923, daughter of Michele and Catherine Caccio Fabrizio. She was the owner of Norwalk Safe driving school, founded in 1947, and continued teaching driving for over 50 years. She was the first female driving instructor in the state of Connecticut. She was also the first female to attend Cristio in the state of Connnecticut in the Spanish language.

Roach is survived by her son, Edward James Roach (Patricia); brother, Leonardo Ferrara (Betty); three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; and siblings, Phyllis, Philip, James and Mildred.

Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 11 at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 12 at 10 a.m. in St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
