NORWALK, Conn. – Helen Elizabeth Shields, a longtime resident of Norwalk, died Friday, June 5, at Courville Nursing Home in Nashua, N.H. She was 86.
Shields was born on Oct. 8, 1928, in Yonkers, N.Y., to August and Bertha Petersen Dietzel. She retired from Nestle Foods.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Robert; her brother, Harold E. Dietzel; a sister, Dorothy E. Vitaliani and brother-in-law Anthony Vitaliani.
Shields is survived by a sister-in-law, Barbara Dietzel of Debary, Fla.; nieces Kathy Vitaliani Estrella of Nutley, N.J., Donna Vitaliani Kilbride of Newburgh, N.Y., Darlene Vitialiani Cohen of Clarks Summit, Pa., Diane Dietzel Hundley and husband Glenn of Debary, Fla., Debbie Dietzel Bohannan and husband Randy of Merrimack, N.H.; and nephew David Vitaliani and wife Laura of Pine Bush, N.Y.
Visiting hours will be Thursday, June 11, from 10-11 a.m. at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk. Funeral services will follow.
Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.
