Hedwig M. Shostak, 96, Of Norwalk, Registered Nurse At Norwalk Hospital

NORWALK, Conn. - Hedwig "Hedgie" M. Shostak of Norwalk died Thursday, Oct. 31. She was 96.

Shostak was born Jan. 28, 1917, in Ansonia, daughter of Kostanty and Teofila Marcel. A registered nurse for many years at Norwalk Hospital, she was active with the St. Thomas parish community, where she served as a parish nurse, and was a volunteer at the Notre Dame Convalescent Home.

Shostak is survived by her children, John M. Shostak of Fairfield, Connie Kane of Lakewood, Ohio, and Thomas Shostak of Lancaster, Ohio; and five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sister Mary Lepovsky, brother-in-law Roy Worman, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John Shostak, a former mayor of Norwalk.

Calling hours are Monday, Nov. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk. The burial will be held privately.
