NORWALK, Conn. - Harry W. Keisler Jr. of Norwalk died Friday, April 19. He was 90.
Keisler was born June 11, 1922, in Norwalk, son of Harry W. Sr. and Marguerite Brown Keisler. He attended Norwalk schools. He served in North Africa in the Navy during World War II.
After the war, he worked as a “roustabout” traveling for two years with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. He was a chef at many fine restaurants for more than 40 years and ran the Tavern at the Westport Country Playhouse in the 1960s. During his retirement he lived at Laura Raymond Homes for more than 20 years.
Keisler is survived by his brother-in-law, Vincent Ryan of Norwalk; and his cousins as well as his St. Paul’s on the Green Church family. He was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Beverly Keisler Ryan.
Calling hours are Monday, April 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home , 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, at St. Paul’s on the Green Episcopal Church, 60 East Ave., with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.
