Gustav Johnson, 89, Formerly of Norwalk, WWII Veteran

DANBURY, Conn. – Gustav F. Johnson, formerly of Danbury and Norwalk, died Jan. 23 at Candlewood Valley Care Center in New Milford, Conn. He was 89.

He was born Dec. 9, 1923, in Lewisboro, N.Y., to Martin and Mary Burns Johnson. He grew up in Norwalk and attended local schools. Johnson served with the Army Air Force 402nd Air Depot in Europe during WW II.

Johnson was married to Katherine Wilson Johnson, who predeceased him. He was employed as an electrician for many years, most recently alongside his son, Martin, at M. Johnson Electrical Contractors.

A resident of Danbury since 1965, he recently moved to Roxbury, Mass., and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Johnson is survived by a son, Martin F. (Jeanette) Johnson, of Roxbury; two sisters, Doris Peterson, of Ringwood, N.J., and Emily Richmond, of Naples, Fla.; three grandsons and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Martin Johnson Jr., and Alfred Johnson; and a sister, Marion Cosmo.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Green Funeral Home in Danbury. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Peter Cemetery in Danbury. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
