Georgia Iosifides, 53, Of Norwalk, Owned Jimmy’s Mediterranean Deli

NORWALK, Conn. - Georgia Iosifides of Norwalk died Saturday, June 15. She was 53.

Iosifides was born in Greece, the daughter of Ioannis and Afrodite Miholou Mallas. She came to the United States in 1977 and worked for the Norwalk Hospital before starting her family business, Jimmy’s Mediterranean Deli, with her husband in 1986.

She was a parishioner and volunteer at St. George Greek Orthodox Church for many years, serving on the parish council and holding the offices of treasurer and secretary at various times. She was a member of the St. George Philoptochos Ladies Society.

Iosifides is survived by her husband, Dimitrios “Jimmy” Iosifides; children, Kosta Iosifides of Norwalk and Sotiria “Rhea” Koutsimanis (Kosta) of Norwalk; a grandchild; sisters, Ourania Bozos of Norwalk, and Katerina, Stamatia and Fotini, all of Greece; and a large family. She was predeceased by her parents.

Calling hours are Monday, June 17, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk. Services will be held Tuesday, June 18, at 10 a.m. in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 238 West Rocks Road, Norwalk. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave., Norwalk.
