Melchiorre was born Oct. 16, 1944, in Queens, New York; son of Michael and Antoinette (Quaranta) Melchiorre. He was a resident of Norwalk for the past 37 years.
Before retirement he worked as a cameraman for ABC Television and covered many high profile events on ABC’s Wide World of Sports such as Monday Night Football, numerous Olympic Games, Major League Baseball, the Indianapolis 500, figure skating and the Kentucky Derby. For his outstanding achievement in this field Melchiorre was honored with numerous Emmy awards. He was a member of his homeowners association. He was also a member of the Bethany Chapel in Yonkers.
Melchiorre is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Steven (Jennifer) of Vancouver, British Columbia, Michael (Brenda) of Valencia, Calif.; daughter, Danielle (Christopher) Zorn of Alameda, Calif.; six grandchildren; sister, Grace (Richard) Michals of Bellmore, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Marie; and brother, Domizio.
Calling hours are Friday, Dec. 20 from 4 to 7 p.m., with services at 7 p.m., in Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk. A final viewing and prayer will be held Saturday, Dec. 21, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 41 Hecker Ave., Darien.
