NORWALK, Conn. – Frances C. Lewis, a resident of Norwalk since 1955, died Oct. 27. She was 91.
Born Frances Clark Hawkins in Frostburg, Md., she graduated from Beall High School and Catherman's Business College. She married J. Hayden Lewis in 1945 and settled in Connecticut soon after.
Lewis was an active member of the Norwalk United Methodist Church, Norwalk Women's Club and several other community organizations. She worked as an elementary school secretary for the Norwalk school system until her retirement in 1977.
Lewis is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Steven) Einhorn; two sons, David and Richard Lewis; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation Services of Western Connecticut in Danbury is handling arrangements. Condolences may be sent to Richard Lewis, 41 Laydon Ave., North Haven, CT 06473.
