He was born in St. Ann's Parish, Jamaica.

He was one of three children born to Gertrude and Cyril Corniffe.

He is survived by his son Romeo Corniffe of Ontario Canada, a sister Joyce Goulbourne from Lauderdale Fla., several nieces and nephews and his adopted family, the children of Edith and Stanley Ray (Helen, Brenda and Jackie) from Norwalk.

His sister Millicent Brown is deceased.

Corniffe was an officer of the Jamaican police force stationed in Kingston. He moved to the United States In 1968. He worked and retired from Arnold's Bakery in Greenwich. After retiring he continued to work as an auxiliary police officer for the city of Stamford, a security guard at Caldor's department store and the Union Baptist Church.

He was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church for many years. He looked forward to Sundays so he could keep a watchful eye on the day's proceeding at church. He was always full of jokes and loved interacting with children. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. It goes without saying his generosity was known by all. He lived by the philosophy "work until you can't physically do it anymore."

There will be a viewing at Union Baptist Church, 805 Newfield Ave, on Thursday, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. followed by his Going Home service. The burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests giving a donation in his memory to the Union Baptist youth ministry.

The Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
