Eleanor Cassidy, 91, Norwalk Native

NORWALK, Conn. – Eleanor Cassidy, a Norwalk native, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Franciscan Woods Nursing Home in Brookfield, Wis. She was 91. 

She was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Norwalk to Wincenty and Mary Kriegel Lyszczyk. She was married to William J. Cassidy Sr., who predeceased her. Raised in Norwalk, she was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Norwalk. She married her husband, Bill, there on June 8, 1946. 

In 1966, they moved to Arlington Heights, Ill., where they lived until retiring, when they moved to Woodstock, Ill. Her last years were spent with her daughter, Kathy, in Kansas and then near her son, Bill, in Wisconsin. After she retired, she spent many days traveling and loved to read. 

She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (William) Coenen, of Lenexa, Kan.; two sons, William (Jeanette) Cassidy, of Menomonee Falls, Wis., and Thomas Cassidy, of Lake in the Hills, Ill.; and eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Cassidy was predeceased by her husband, Bill; and a son, Peter.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church in Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Norwalk. Harder Funeral Home in Brookfield, Wis., is handling arrangements.
