Douglas Riddell Jr., 69, Lifelong Norwalk Resident

Douglas Riddell Jr.

NORWALK, Conn. – Douglas W. Riddell Jr. of Norwalk died Jan. 24 at his home. He was 69.

Born April 27, 1943, in Norwalk, he was the son of Douglas W. Riddell Sr. and Lois Williams Riddell. A lifelong resident of Norwalk, Riddell attended Norwalk public schools and served in the Air Force.

He worked as the manager of NAPA-Patchen’s Auto Parts and previously owned D&D Performance in Ridgefield.

A racecar enthusiast, Riddell began as a driver at the former Danbury Race Arena and served as a crew member for various teams. He was also an avid model hobbyist and spent many hours building model trains and remote-controlled cars.

Riddell also served numerous years with the Norwalk Seaport Association, acting as chairman for the annual Oyster Festival.

Riddell is survived by a son, Rob Riddell, of Norwalk; a daughter-in-law, Becky Riddell; a grandson; and his former wife, Donna Riddell, of Hamden.

A memorial wake will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home in Norwalk. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk.
