Dorothy Caldwell-Marella, 95, Of Norwalk, Volunteer, Norwalk Soup Kitchen

NORWALK, Conn. - Dorothy (Safir) Caldwell-Marella of Norwalk died Tuesday, Sept. 23. She was 95.

Caldwell-Marella was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Edward and Fannie Goldschmidt Safir. She was a lifelong Norwalk resident graduating in 1936 from Norwalk High School then graduating in 1940 from Beaver College (now called) Arcadia University in Glenside, Pa. She was a member of the Grange in Georgetown and was a 20 year volunteer with the Norwalk Soup Kitchen. She was a member of the Norwalk High School Alumni Association.

Caldwell-Marella is survived by her children, Judith E. Darragh of East Norwalk, John A. Caldwell of San Francisco, Calif., Paul E. Caldwell (Evelyn) of Pine Junction, Colo., and Mark E. Caldwell of Winchester; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents.

Calling hours are Thursday, Sept. 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk.
