Dan Woods, 80, Of Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. – Dan Woods was born in the Bronx on Feb. 24, 1934, the son of the late James and Kathleen Woods.

He was a graduate of Norwalk High School, served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a retired tile contractor and owner of Colonial Tile in Norwalk. Woods was a former commissioner for the Cranbury Community Athletic Association and was involved with the association for many years. He was an avid New York Mets and UConn women’s basketball fan, enjoyed crafts and woodworking, and loved to be with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Woods is survived by five children, Wayne W. Woods and his wife, Lori, of Trumbull, Conn.; Sharon A. Woods of Norwalk; David J. Woods of Clinton, Conn.; Michele L. Cichowicz and her husband, Troy, of Norwalk; and Jennifer L. Woods of Norwalk; a brother and sister-in-law in Deep River, Conn.; a sister-in-law in New York; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 29, from 5-8 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. at St. Philip Church, 1 Father Conlon Place, Norwalk. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.
