Cynthia C. Brown, 86, Founding Member,Norwalk's Lockwood-Mathews Mansion

DARIEN, Conn. - Cynthia C. Brown of Darien died recently. She was 86.

Brown was born May 25, 1927, to Arthur L. and Elinor Lambert Manchee. She graduated from The Knox School in 1945 and Smith College in 1949. She was one of the founding members of the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk when it was established in 1964. She was active with the mansion for over 45 years, serving in a variety of roles, including Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Brown is survived by son, James M. (Kathy) Clark, Jr.; sister, Sally Richmond) Bachelder; sister-in-law, Alice C. Brown; step children, Thomas G. Brown (Julie); Elizabeth Brown Warters (John), Adam Brown; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service in celebration of Brown’s life will be held Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum, 295 West Ave., Norwalk at 11 a.m.
