Coza Samuel, 90, Formerly of Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. – Coza Mae Atkins Samuel, a former Norwalk resident, died July 15. She was 90. 

Samuel was born June 16, 1921, in Orange County, N.C. to Hattie Williams and Robert Atkins. She was married to the late James "Sonny" Samuel. She lived in Norwalk for many years before retiring to Chapel Hill, N.C. 

She is survived by a son, John Preston Boyd, of Tempe, Ariz.; a daughter, Cora Keels, of Chapel Hill; two sisters, Beatrice Roberson, of Durham, N.C. and Alma Atkins-Johnson, of White Plains, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Alger Atkins and Thurman Atkins and three sisters, Mildred Atkins-Brewer, Willie Mae Scott and Leona Atkins-Hall. 

A memorial service will be held July 27 at Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Chapel Hill. Baker Funeral Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
